Mom Grieves for Son’s Death In 2016 After Cop Used Knee Hold

Date: Wednesday, June 11th

At George Floyd’s funeral in Houston, the city’s mayor was greeted with applause after he announced the city would ban choke holds and restraints. But such restraints like the one that killed George Floyd are more common than you may think. In 2016, a case in Dallas was remarkably similar to Floyd’s. While he was handcuffed and face down, Tony Timpa was held under a cop’s knee for nearly 14 minutes. He pleaded for help more than 30 times before losing consciousness and dying.
